Setting the Scene
I prepared thoroughly for this wedding, staying in close contact with the wonderful team at The Wedding Bliss, who kept me well informed about the setting, schedule, color palette (this is key!), and other important details. I also collaborated with Jenny, the bride, who was always open to my suggestions and ideas. The couple were so kind and just a joy to work with.
By the time the day arrived, I was already familiar with all the looks they’d be wearing, from the outfits to the accessories and jewelry, which helped me plan my shots more intentionally. The challenge was to show of the amazing scenery, styling and keep it minimal to my vision.

Getting Ready at Rayavadee Villas
The bridesmaids and groomsmen getting ready had a calm energy. Jenny’s attention to detail was evident in everything, from her Danielle Frankel and Dana Harel gowns to her jasmine flower garlands, chosen to honor her Thai culture.
I chose to capture details and portraits with a more simple vision in mind and did not want to frames to be too busy. This was a challenge in the environment full of trees and spotted light. Leaning into the thoughtful but simple styling.

Why I chose this?
I chose shaded, darker backgrounds to allow the dress to pop against it. Again leaning into the minimal elegance. This is one of my favourite portraits of the day.
Ceremony Among the Cliffs
The ceremony space, with its stunning backdrop had dappled sunlight filtering through the trees. That was both a gift and a challenge. The harsh contrast meant adjusting angles on the fly, but in some cases just embracing it.

‘Why I chose this’
One creative choice that paid off was shooting from behind during the entrance, capturing the couple walking into the light framed by the view.
Portraits
Most portraits happened around noon, so we made some bold lighting decisions, including using flash selectively and scouting darker backdrops to let Jenny's bridal look truly stand out.

Coming from Berlin where it was -10°C, Krabi was very hot and humid. The light was a bit tricky, as most of the key moments took place around midday, and the large trees created a strong mix of light and shadow, especially during the portrait session.

As the bridal party returned to the villa, the light caught the umbrella just right, casting a glow that gave this quiet moment a timeless, cinematic feel.
Reception in the Cave
The cave reception was absolutely magical. The couple kept the styling subtle, letting candlelight, natural textures, and carefully curated florals from IAMFLOWER enhanced the space rather than compete with it. The atmosphere was easy and joyful, especially since they'd already thrown a huge party in Bangkok previously. The challange was to capture the lighting of the set up with the sunset together.

Working with Light (and Letting Go)
Throughout this wedding, we had to change up our light choices. Using flash only when it added something to the mood, not just for the sake of effect. That kind of intention informed the editing process too. The colors, the sea, the florals, the bridesmaids’ dresses… they were too beautiful to mute the colours down. While I often lean toward black and white, this gallery called for some vibrant warmth throughout.
