‘Behind the Image’
Here I was trying to create a clear hierarchy within the scale of the image. Shot at 28mm, f/5.6, 1/640. The wide angle opens everything up and lets the mountain take over. That’s really the subject. The aisle and florals are there in the context of the landscape.

The Gear and Details
“I kept the setup tight. Sony a1 mark 2 and a7iv, mostly switching between 16 and 50mm. Fast primes so I could move without thinking.”
“The drone came in when I needed scale, especially up in the mountains.”

Pre-Wedding
“Going into this wedding we had more of a feeling to chase rather than a tight plan: clean, sharp, and slightly unexpected. Snow changes everything anyway with light bouncing everywhere, wild reflections, and distances that feel off. Coming prepared with some high-powered flashes to dial in the harsh sun was key.”

‘The Background’
This came from our obsession with fashion, treating the moment like a campaign happening inside the party, shot at 20mm, f/9, 1/400 with flash to control the harsh mountain light. The composition is structured with strong lines and clear geometry, but within that we leave space for movement and small interactions to bring it to life. It feels controlled but still real, and that overlap between something constructed and something unpredictable is what we love.

Wedding Day
The day didn’t have a normal flow. Everything was happening at once. Bride basically ready, groom coming in on a snowboard, guests already moving. We didn’t have much time to chill out, it was just straight into the action.
“The light kept shifting all day.. one second it was flat, next second super harsh. We just rolled with the punches and worked with what the day gave us.”

‘Behind the Portrait’
Shot at 24mm, f/5.6, 1/6400 to freeze both the movement and the intensity of the light bouncing off the snow. I was on unstable ground with the subject moving and the light constantly shifting, so there’s no real directing, just reading the moment and anticipating where everything will land. It feels effortless in the end, but it’s all happening under pressure, and that tension is what gives the image its energy.

Reception
“The main thing with the reception was just constantly reading the light and deciding what to do with it. The space already had strong ambient tones, deep reds and warm light, so sometimes we stayed in that to keep the mood, and other times we brought in flash to add separation and energy.”
“It was never one setup, just switching between ambient and flash depending on what the moment needed.”
