Hey it’s LENSEL. You weekly (cheeky) shot of news and insight for the wedding photographer world. Here’s what is on today:

  • Neutral is nothing: and why curating around bold colours is winning right now

  • The Social Media Playbook: February in Lensel PRO.

  • New ways to edit?

  • All the news and inspo for wedding photographers

Let’s dive in ⬇️

NEWS

Happening this Week

  • Point and Shoot Waves. Is this wild looking camera the new it point and shoot of the moment? The Canon TX1 zoning in on the low fi, early digital look - at least this one has a new vibe.

  • A New Flash but make it mid-sized. Godox announced a new version of the popular V1 flash this week, but the twist? It’s smaller, more compact and even cheaper. Named maybe aptly, the V1mid.

  • New era of mixed media imagery. Set design, collages and photography are blending together in creative way this week. This week these prints were released by Jana Frost, while these images went viral and this video showed you exactly how to do it. OH and one more photographer doing it here.

  • Buzzword Problems. This week a discussion dove into the tricky question of β€˜What is a Luxury Photographer?’ It nails the problem of the buzzword AND jealous people.

  • VSCO’s new way to edit. They call it prompt, and you can just tell it what you want to change apparently. β€œmake this look like film?”

  • Limited Compacts. Canon is releasing a limited edition of it’s popular Canon G7x mkiii. Due April this year.

THE BIG IDEA

πŸ‘€ Don’t Ignore Colour: Why Neutral is Nothing in 2026.

Photographers often IGNORE colours because it’s easier.
Yes, we said that.
And you know it’s true.

Taking bouquets out of frames, moving to plain walls and backdrops, avoiding coloured lights, removing that one guest with a purple top, using presets that desaturate and mute everything…

All this done to push everything into a more β€˜cohesive look.’

Sounds great right?
The problem is that in 2026, this looks more like a palette of neutral mush.

Because here’s the thing.
Weddings in 2026 are getting bolder. We are seeing more colour. More daring choices. Less of the classic green and white weddings and more concepts that rely on and embrace COLOUR.

So? Photographers need to embrace that colour too.

pinterest search for β€˜wedding’ where everything looks the same… zzzzz

What that looks like:

  • Stop muting your edits. This doesn’t mean completely changing your editing and style. It means SATURATING selected colours a little more.

  • Think about colour as you prepare for a wedding. Ask for concepts and palettes and make plans to embrace them, not hide from them.

  • Capture a wedding intentionally around colour. Seek out backdrops and props that match the colour concept. Match and combine colours as you shoot.

  • Think about curation differently. Cohesive doesn’t mean avoiding colours! Just because you had one wild pink wedding doesn’t mean it can’t go on your feed.

  • Watch out for ROGUE colour edits when applying a preset or Ai editing profile to your photos. Often you might have squashed a colour completely.

  • BONUS: Use film to do this. Embrace bolder, daring colours with your film shots as your way of curating them together with the rest of your gallery.

Here’s a few standouts doing just that ⬇️

No one embraces colour like Michaela Jellin. It’s bold. Unapologetic. And here to kick you out of your green/white wedding slumber.

Jack Henry curated this welcome night shoot around the PINK, even including a shot of the pink DJ lights into the post on the feed. He could have easily avoided the colour vibe here, but choose to embrace it. WINNING.

BOLD colour and colour matches are everywhere right now. And you will only see more in 2026.

Bottega 53 is so often ahead of the taste gap. They’ve been dialling up the saturation and embracing colour much more over the last few years. Note the skin tone, the skies, the greens. ZERO muted mush to be seen.

And if you are looking for some colour inspo for weddings (or even your branding this year), this Wed Vibes post on colour trends this year is a winner, as well as this post with some unexpected Pantone matches.

Thank us later, or now hehe.
