The deeper analog movement.
For photographers analog is nothing new. We are well versed in the slow and surprising world of film. But our wider culture is craving and embracing a moment that many are calling the ‘ANALOG LIFESTYLE.’ And it’s one that goes beyond just the nostalgia and aesthetic of things like film. There’s a deeper shift going on.
People are OVER online everything. The sneaky creep of AI into everything. The polish and perfection of lives and business curated to the max online. And the disconnection that comes from the digification of literally everything in our lives.
SO what about our little photo posts? Over those too? Well…. in some ways.

It’s not an aesthetic shift it’s an experiential desire.
The ‘analog lifestyle’ movement and trend is not just about a retro aesthetic or making things look a certain way. We are craving the EXPERIENCE that comes with analog things. Slow, tangible, sometimes boring, not always attention seeking, real, quiet, sometimes imperfect and yet always confident. Read more about the whole ‘analog lifestyle’ trend topic here and here.
And this leaves us photographers with some big tensions and questions when it comes to how we use social media and promote our business:
How can we use social media to invite experience not just show off aesthetic?
How do we build trust and authority in a digital space, while pulling our work and our lives back toward the real (analog) world??
BELOW are our 4 best social ideas to get you started in this vibe…
