NEWS

The News this Week

  • Canon R6 mkiii. Big news this week as Canon announced the R6 mk iii and will it be the new king of wedding photography cameras? Certainly a contender. Upgraded 32.5 megapixel sensor (sweet spot size for weddings?), improved autofocus and high ISO results - and much more. See a full release here and initial review here.

  • Not popstars. Was that you getting called out on Instagram? This post did the rounds trying to keep photographers grounded.

  • Megapixel Wars. The war has been won. This German DIY project camera produces 3.2 Gigapixel images. If you are ready to nerd out and learn a thing or two about resolution - watch the project walk through here and blow your mind.

  • Hot Wheels. Your pelican case can finally have wheels on it.

  • f1.2 for $500. Alongside the new camera, Canon also released an intriguing new lens. A 45mm f1.2. At only $500 it’s a very nice way to grab a small, low light powerhouse to compliment your 28-70…

  • New for Nikon. Viltrox annouced it’s making it’s (much loved) 85mm f2 lens for Nikon Z mount.

  • Kodak vs Kodak. This week Eastman Kodak (the actual producer of Kodak film) announced they are now selling Kodak Gold 200 under their umbrella. It’s complicated but read this to see why it’s a big deal. And see here to see what’s new with the film stock.

  • Vow for Girls Fundraiser Conference x WED VIBES. An incredible line up of speakers for this online event put on by Wed Vibes, and all the raise $ for a great cause. Hosted over three days… There are panels and masterclasses featuring so of the best wedding industry pros. Come and support it!

THE BIG IDEA

🍿 3 weird frames that shouldn’t work but do.

We love a good, classic composition. The perfect frame that pops.

BUT we are in an era of wedding photography that embraces a little chaos. And sometimes the frames that feel wrong at first glance end up hitting the hardest. (maybe why AI culling still has a way to go!)…

Weird frames that are different from ‘standard’ can pull you in because your brain is trying to resolve it all. And that tension creates interest.

So, 3 frames. Here we go.

Foot Perspective? ⬆️
Not sure “photography school” would advise putting the bottom of a shoe in a frame.

FULL WEDDING FEATURE

🎞️ Jesters, Puppet Theatre and Artful Film at this Eclectic New Orleans Wedding: Captured by Camille Delan

Full Wedding Featured from photographer camilledelauneweddings

Dive in to see the behind the scenes thoughts and decisions from photographer Camille Delaune as she captured this artful and interesting New Orleans wedding.

“As soon as the sun sets, I try to only shoot on the Leica M6 with flash extension. I like the idea of shooting any camera the way it “wants” to be shot, and I think a Leica most flourishes as a documentary camera.

These photos do what I want every party photo to do, to feel alive, a little mischievous, a little sexy, a little curious, just like all the best parties.”
