NEWS
Happening this Week
Zola ties the Knot. Yesterday The Knot announced it acquired it’s main competitor Zola. Neither of these wedding planning and vendor platforms have had the greatest of reputations among photographers. Especially The Knot (hello scams) but still the fear is now, with a larger monopoly - the scamminess get’s even worse!
Tamron’s 16-50mm. It’s not for full frame, but don’t count it out. New lenses like this one from Tamron announced yesterday are making APSC (crop sensor) cameras viable options for wedding use. See the new 16-50mm f2.8 lens here.
This Bride got mad and took to Tiktok because her photographer died before she got the edited photos. Read about the sad and wild and mad situation here.
Instax Moods. Instax released a new camera this week with included ‘moods’ that let you add a little filter before you take the image.
Think of the ears. The wedding photography job involves a surprising amount of bodily neglect. This week a discussion dove deep into ear protection and we think y’all need to hear it. Well, before you walk past the DJ’s speakers next week, and can’t.
Photography at NYBFW. It’s New York Bridal Fashion week right now. The Wed has amazing current coverage on their socials, and we at Lensel have boots on the ground doing the good work for next weeks Lensel newsletter.. While that is happening, we have to direct you to Danielle Frakel’s latest collection release. Minds blown by the levels the keep pushing their campaign photography to.

FEATURED WEDDING
How Ruben & Sandra Shot this Lakeside Wedding with Curation in Mind from the Start.
Most wedding photographers just shoot a wedding day and THEN figure out how to curate it afterward. Ruben & Sandra flip that approach, showing up with some strong ideas of how to curate as they shoot.
They walk us through the choices that led to the final gallery, from the location scout to deciding to use OCF vs. ambient, and a lot more.

INSPO TO KEEP YOU FRESH
⬇️ There’s a magic to see a location. And then seeing your couple in it. And no many do it better than Marcijus Studio - we loved this selection of his view into architecture at weddings. And you will too.
⬇️ When everyone zig - zag right?? The bright colours, diptychs and general perspective in one of kind here.
⬇️ A beautiful mix of classic back lit frames, wild double exposure and ideas - all with wonderful TASTE. Kelly Brown on a tare right now.
⬇️ It’s all about pairs. If you didn’t get the point about diptychs already - dive into these and try REALLY HARD to think why.
⬇️ Billy Dee is a street photo icon and these frames in NYC are no different. Let these wash over you.
Until next week,
PS. We take submissions for wedding features. If you have a wedding and a POV you think our Lensel readers would love - email [email protected]
