NEWS
Happening This Week
Elegant Add-Ons. Blanc Portraits released a new concept of their elevated photo booth ideas for wedding. A chic, non cheesy add-on to your photo package if we ever saw one. OH and this one is RED. Check it out here.
You’ll never know their favourite… This video produced by The Knot shows 50 couples quickly sharing their favourite wedding photo from their day. A GREAT reminder about why we do what we do.
New Canon RF lens makers. Tamron just released their first lens for the RF mount - a sign of good things to come from third party lens makers? And it’s a wide, very wide. 11-20mm to be exact. If you are up for some experimenting, check it out here.
Larger the format the better? This photographer released a new set of draw dropping portraits this week all shot on Arca Swiss 8×10. Have you ever seen a shallower depth of field?
New flash game. KEKS just released a new flash designed to fit on top of almost any old film camera. And it looks the part to! The KF-01 flash is little retro flash with just enough power to get the job done.
Roman Ivanov in the LIVE LOUNGE. This week we hosted Roman Ivanov in our Live Lounge. See the reply here. While we refine this format and make the structure much better for next time, be sure to register for our next live lounge with the amazing Koko King here.

⚡️ Reception Lighting References

Shooting a low lit reception or wedding can be a challenge. Many photographers just default to a simple direct flash. BUT is that all it can be?
Today we are running through some reception lighting references and ideas. Think inside weddings (it’s winter duh), dark receptions, low light, and romance. Think luxurious, cozy, and intimate. It’s a VIBE.
Don’t fight the light ⬇️
Low light is all about atmosphere. You’ll often see photographers try to light up the whole scene or brighten it up in post. Preserving the light, preserves the vibe though. So don’t be afraid of something slightly darker.

A strong backlight ⬇️
We loved this idea where for the cake cutting at this indoor reception the photographer made use of theses super strong, almost flood lights, to create something dynamic and effective.
