🎓 Film Secrets: 3 insider explanations you won’t find just anywhere

There is so much mystery to film.
And that’s the beauty of it right?

YES. But wedding photographers still need to know we are getting it right. Especially in the high pressure, only happens once moments!

Last week inside Lensel PRO, Daniel Knight Harris hosted a workshop on film. It was an incredible 2 hours of details and secrets about film you won’t find on Youtube, or Reddit. It was the goods.

Here are THREE big takeaways to get you started ⬇️

Oh, and if you want the full deep dive, you’ll find the workshop replay waiting and ready to watch in Lensel PRO now.

#1: Frontier vs Noritsu Film Scanners
Everyone throws around “Frontier” and “Noritsu” like you should just know the difference. They are the two most widely used SCANNERS in film labs today. AND labs always ask you which you want it to be scanned with. So what’s the difference??

Daniel explained: “Noritsu scans are like a raw that needs editing. Frontier scans come back baked-in, filmy and ready to go.”

The upside of Noritsu is flexibility: “a great scanner operator on a Noritsu can actually carve out a really personal style.” But the downside is brutal: “A really average Noritsu scan can make you think, my God, why did I waste all that money?”

And here’s the bigger picture: “Noritsu was built in a time when film was trying to emulate digital. Frontier was built in a time when everything was trying to stay in a film space.”

That’s why Frontier scans feel romantic and ready-to-deliver, while Noritsu gives you control, or a mess, depending on who’s operating it.

“Every wedding comes with its own creative risks and quick decisions. Lisa, the videographer (Muse of Marquise), and I had scouted some outdoor spots and different corners of the manor for portraits, but when the moment came we had just 7 minutes to work.
