Happening this Week
Canon and Sandisk aren’t friends. A warning came out this week for Canon R5 mkii users to say that Sandisk cards WILL corrupt when used with the camera. Ah ok Sandisk.
Off course you didn’t miss the Instagram GRID update. Instagram somewhat suddenly updated our grids to a vertical 4:5 ratio, and made a raft of other (hello weird spacing) design updates to our profiles. While most photographers are loving the update, if you have a few weird crops on your feed you can easily change and update them. Here’s what’s on Instagram’s grid roadmap for us.
Tuscany Calls. Kayleigh Taylor and Hannah Rosser announced their Tuscany workshop this week and there now just a few spots still available. 3 days, with full editorial shoots to help you build the portfolio you NEED. We also spied Villa Geggiano as one of the locations - dreams.
Leica got us with their NEW SL-3s. Leica is heating up in the wedding world. Bank account danger right? And now, Leica have released their latest SL-3s camera. With MAJOR updates to their autofocus system, (now with phase-detection), it can now keep up with other brands. See a quick initial review here.
Battery Power. At CES this week Anker released their latest and greatest phone battery power bank with huge power reserve and USB-C cable built in. Perfect for those long wedding days.

🛸 DJI let’s you fly where you want

BIG NEWS for drones
DJI just made a MAJOR change to how you fly. Starting January 13, 2025, they’re ditching the restrictions and no-fly zones and switching to official FAA data for airspace info across the U.S. Translation? The responsibility for flight safety (and any violations) is now 100% on YOU and you can fly where you want to.
Here’s what’s changing:
Those old DJI “No-Fly Zones” are now called Enhanced Warning Zones. Instead of locking you out of sensitive areas (like airports or government sites), you’ll get alerts — but no auto restrictions and no lock outs. You’ll be able to fly where ever you want.
It’s up to pilots to know the FAA rules and fly responsibly.
DJI also says you’ll need to stay connected to the internet and keep your flight apps updated to get the latest airspace info. But remember, they’re not enforcing the rules anymore — you are.

It takes a long time.
Yes, editing workflows are changing. Many are making use of AI editing services to help with parts of their process. The key word here however is parts. Editing is still a very manual process even if we use some AI editing software. We still touch every single image along the way and it still takes so much time. So any small thing that helps us speed up is welcome…
